Bloom Water Pitcher

This item is a silver-plated pitcher and goblet set that was donated to the Iowa Masonic Library in 1899 by Moses Bloom of Iowa City. It held fresh water in it so that patrons could enjoy a cool drink while using the Library; drinking fountains were not yet in use.  As proof, the third photo shows the Bloom Pitcher set in place on a table in the reading room of the old library building. The pitcher was made by the Rockford Silver Plate Co. of Rockford, Illinois.
